Healing is our resistance."

How Do I Work?

I am training to become a Relational Psychotherapist. I work hard to recognize and understand my clients’ individual and relational struggles.

We are all part of contexts that are bigger than ourselves. Everyone has their own unique self experience grounded in their experience with others.

Our relational context has a lot to do with our own emotional distress (depression, anxiety, oppression, etc.) because our well-being is very much tied to our relationships with other people. It is useful to look at a lot of psychological difficulties as having to do with something we are missing or have missed in our relational connections.

My goal is to practice non-judgmental therapy. This may sound simple enough, but I believe many therapists struggle in this area. I work hard to provide the safest space that I can, where my clients feel like they can tell me anything without worrying about my reaction. I know, however, that this type of relationship takes time to build and that I must prove myself over the duration of my relationships with my clients.

I routinely look at my own biases and privileges to make sure that I am not getting in the way of my clients’ therapy.

I truly believe that once a good client-therapist relationship has been established, healing can begin.
